scene + heard magazine

scene + heard is a magazine published each spring by Lesley University students.

This issue of the magazine focused on land and what that meant to each artist who contributed. I wrote an article for students who live in a city, and their role in a sustainable lifestyle. I focused a lot on our responsibility to the earth and our land. I have a strong passion for sustainable practices and try to promote it through education how even the smallest steps can positively benefit the environment.

This was one of our physical projects that allowed us to explore our relationship with the terms land and citizenship.

This is representative of wayfinding, or the original concept of sailing. Sails used to look a lot different than they do today. Now they are bleached white or dyed black and are made of synthetic material. I wanted to explore land+water, how it resonates with me, as a sailor, and how people used to define citizenship much more loosely than we do now.
